Effects of a Gravel Pit Lake on Groundwater Hydrodynamic

نویسندگان

چکیده

In Europe, 1132 Mt of sand and gravel were mined in 2019, which causes major changes to the hydrogeological cycle. Such may lead significantly raised or lowered groundwater levels. Therefore, aggregate sector has ensure that impacts on existing environmental water infrastructures are kept a minimum post-mining phase. risk assessments often made by empirical methods, based assumptions do not meet real aquifer conditions. To investigate this effect, predictions numerical methods about hydraulic head caused pit lake compared. Wrobel’s equation, is Sichardt’s was used as method, while flow model been solved means finite-element method FEFLOW. The provides smaller ranges increased/decreased levels method. underestimation results related finding field measurements during pumping tests show larger extent drawdown than calculations with equation. Simplifications 2D approach have evaluated against derived from 3D model. Our clearly faster cheaper method—Wrobel’s preferred over more expensive time-consuming underestimates area. This especially critical when assignment mining permits such computations. we recommend using models pre-mining phase accurately compute gravel/sand excavation’s hence effective protection other systems.

environmental effects of gol-e-gohar iron ore mine on groundwater of the area

gol-e-gohar iron ore mine of sirjan in southern part of iran is a large open pit that operates below the groundwater table and during mining operation, dewatering is required to prevent operation processes from flooding. current operation is going on by digging wells in or out of the pit and pumping to prevent flooding. as a result of the former dewatering operation a vast deep cone of depressi...

Simulation of Groundwater Fluxes during Open-pit Filling and under Steady State Pit Lake Conditions

A critical component in determining post-mining pit water quality is knowledge of groundwater fluxes, both as the pit fills and after steady state conditions have been reached. Simulations of the filling of an open pit in Crescent Valley, Nevada, were made to generate inputs for pit lake chemistry predictions. The simulations show that the water table recovery is most rapid immediately after pu...

A 3D Hydrodynamic Lake Model: Simulation on Great Slave Lake

Large lakes are recognized as an important influence on the circulation of the atmosphere; in return the resulting meteorological forcing also affects the lake thermal structure. This interaction is complex and continues to be a critical issue considering the millions of lakes in Canada, many of which are large, and are unaccounted for in the current climatic models. This paper evaluates the pr...
